Liverpool FC Need a Change in Fortunes

by backofthenet

Liverpool FC have had very indifferent form this season. One moment they can beat the big guns of the Premier League and the next moment we can see the Reds dropping points against Norwich City.

A side note from us here at Two Liverpool Fans. Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s Valentine’s Day today and Kenny Dalglish will be hoping for an improvement in Liverpool FC’s fortune as the season starts to reach the home stretch. In general, I think King Kenny has done relatively well this season. He has brought us to the final of the League Cup (and in doing so has brought us to Wembley) and has even brought us to the last 16 of the FA Cup. But it’s in the Premier League where Liverpool FC’s fans have been left wanting.

The Reds have lacked the cutting edge at home, at an Anfield stadium deemed to be one of the most intimidating home grounds of all time given the LIverpool triumphs on the hallowed ground. Kenny Dalglish has perhaps set his team wrongly too many times at Anfield and played the safe game, at some times almost playing to try and get the draw. In my opinion, something like that shouldn’t be happening at home. We should be playing more offensively at home. Basically, the priority right now is to win that Carling Cup, hopefully progress as far as we possibly can in the FA Cup and we really need to get the Champions League spot back.

In my opinion, the most important reason that we need that Champions League players is because of the attractive prospect that it offers to new signings come the summer transfer window in August. Personally, I think that the reason behind Liverpool’s quiet January transfer window wasn’t because we didn’t need new signings, it wasn’t because we didn’t try to make new signings. I think that the reason behind it is because we struggled to get our targets interested without the Champions League qualification. In reality, participation in that competition makes a huge difference when it comes to making big signings.

But I think that the 2-1 result that was suffered at the hands of Manchester United can be taken positively. One side note is that the racism saga with rivals Manchester United is perhaps officially over. Another is that the result could have been far worse. In my opinion, Liverpool had no control whatsoever and looked out of depth against the reigning Premier League champions. Furthermore, we have a near full strength squad that seem prepared to win games.
